We welcome you to the 65th Annual National Conference of the Indian Public Health Association (IPHACON 2021) being organized by the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, JIPMER International School of Public Health (JISPH), and IPHA Pondicherry State Branch from 24th to 26th September 2021.
JIPMER traces its origins to the ‘Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry’ established by the French Government in 1823 and declared an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in 2008. The Department of PSM, JIPMER has provided significant contributions in academic, research and community outreach activities. Subsequently, in 2014, JISPH was established to strengthen public health leadership and shape the nation’s health research agenda.
The world is moving through a challenging time. The current pandemic taught us many positive lessons and sharing such experiences from all over India will contribute to our capacity to manage such epidemics in future. With renewed interest in public health among youngsters, conferences like this gives them an immense opportunity to learn from the experience of senior public health leaders. IPHACON 2021 is being organised at a critical juncture when there is an awakening amongst the global scientific and political community on the need to strengthen public health infrastructure across the globe especially in a country like India with a large susceptible population and limited resources.
‘Public Health: More than ever, Now!’ is the theme of this year’s conference spanning over three days, preceded by pre-conference workshops. The Scientific sessions, research paper presentations, and national and global health experts’ presence will provide an excellent networking platform for public health professionals.
We invite you all to take part in this conference for contributing and pursuing innovative ideas to strengthen public health in this country.
